FAQ

Ready to get started?

Asking for help can feel challenging especially when getting ready to embrace change. When you send me a consultation request, we will schedule a free 30 minute assessment to determine if I am a good fit for you. We can talk on the phone or hop on zoom.

Why a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) are different than general nutritionists because we have a governing body which holds us liable to do no harm. We have completed a didactic program in dietetics with education in medical nutrition therapy and food safety followed by 1200+ hours of intense internship experience to certify our training and expertise. Upon completion, dietitians then sit for a certification exam and have to complete 75+ continuing education hours every 6 years to stay up to date with the most evidence based trends.

How many sessions do I need? How often should I schedule sessions?

Sessions run for 45 minutes. I recommend having at least 3 follow up sessions after the initial. Why? I believe and through client successes, after 3 sessions we are able to effectively start implementing sustainable changes to your life.

Frequency is very much determined on your needs. If you need more health education and feel that your goals are out of reach, I would suggest every week. However, if you have been making sustainable progress and just need a booster, I would suggest meeting with me every 2 – 3 weeks. This is for your benefit as consistency and frequency can help meet your goals at a realistic pace.

Do you take insurance?

As of right now, no. I can send you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider. Based on your insurance they may reimburse you pending your diagnosis and out-of-network benefits.

If you are interested in using Reimbursify to file your claims, I am a registered practitioner on their site. You can upload your superbill onto their mobile platform and they will help guide you through the rest! (Note: there is a fee to send, approximately $2.99 per superbill. I can send a superbill on a day of your choosing on a monthly basis for reimbursement and lowering fee costs).

What are payments like?

Payment for your full session is due at the time of service. Additionally packages must be paid in full and must be bought prior to use. Kindness Dietitian requires a credit card to be on file in the secure medical record system. We take major credit cards, debit cards, FSA, and HSA cards. If you agree, I can set up auto-pay for your card after sessions.

What is your cancelation policy?

Kindness dietitian maintains a 48-business-hour cancellation/rescheduling fee policy. You will be responsible for the entire session fee if you cancel within 48 business hours of your appointment time. I take my time with you seriously, and ask that you reciprocate!

  • California

  • Oregon

  • Arizona

  • Texas

How do I prepare for my video session?

Please read the following video counseling preparation guide courtesy of Person Centered Tech.

1. Create a confidential space

Things to consider:

  • Is the space private?

  • Can you lock the door?

    • If not, will others who have access to the space respect your request for privacy and not enter the room?

  • Can others outside the room hear you talking?

    • If so, can you create white noise with a fan or other form of background noise? (Preferably placed outside the doorway of the room you’re in.)

    • Consider using headphones or earbuds so that your provider’s voice cannot be heard by others.

If you have a hard time finding a confidential space, here are some examples that others have used. These are not ideal, but might work if an ideal setup is not available. If you use any of these, please make sure that the space is comfortable to you. Being comfortable is very important.

  • Laundry Room

  • Walk-In-Closet

  • Basement

  • Attic

  • The last resort: your car, parked in safe, private spot. (We want to emphasize that private does not mean secluded. Please do make sure you are in a safe location.)

2. Basic tech considerations

  • A laptop or desktop computer is ideal — preferably with a large display

  • If you’re using a tablet or phone, please make sure it is in a stand and is stable

  • Please make sure that the camera is about level with your eyes; it may require you to elevate the device or camera

  • Please make sure that you’re well lit and don’t have a bright light source directly behind you

3. Maximize your connection

  • Move your computer as close as you can to your WiFi router (the box that broadcasts the WiFi.) Or better yet, plug your computer into the router with an Ethernet cable.

  • Next, quit or close out of any programs you don’t need.
