Hi! I am Katy, the dietitian!

Kindness Dietitian began when…

Katy became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who found her love in her specialization in adolescent and adult eating disorders and disordered eating patterns. She addresses her clients as a whole person; approaching not only eating disorders but the client’s co-occurring mental health and physical co-morbidities with a Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating®, and Body-Trust®, and IFS-informed lens.

Katy completed her BS in Dietetics at the University of Arizona and went on to complete her dietetic internship and MPH in Health Promotion and Health Education at The University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston. She graduated with additional certificates in Clinical Nutrition and Culinary Nutrition. While completing her masters, she created a framework to for health professionals to address their weight-bias to decrease the shame uterus owners may feel during cervical cancer screenings. Additionally, she taught Culinary Medicine courses to community members, health science and medical students, and faculty. She completed her clinical training at Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. After graduation, she underwent a selective fellowship in neonatal nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine.

She currently receives supervision from Elyse Resch MS, RDN, CEDRD-S, Fiaedp, FADA, FAND, the co-writer of Intuitive Eating. Additionally, Katy participates in monthly meetings for diversity and inclusivity to ensure that she can advocate for her patients for equitable eating disorder treatment. She is the current Eating Disorder Resource Professional for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’s (ACEND) Behavioral Health Nutrition Practice Group, is a member of the Los Angeles Dietetic Chapter of ACEND, a member of International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP), a member of Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and Professionals, and Gatorade Sports Science Institute.

She adores working with her clients to empower them with knowledge of social justice and body liberation from societal norms. She is also earning hours to obtain her a board certification in pediatrics, eating disorders, and eventually sports nutrition! She is informed in Internal Family Systems and takes a parts approach when touching on behavioral actions that impact health.
